Launch
MG Motor Philippines officially launched the MG TRQ L on October 23, 2025. At launch, the TRQ L was available in two distinct variants, the Comfort 4x2 six-speed MT and the Comfort 4x2 eight-speed AT.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
Under the hood, both models share a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine producing 158 hp at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 2,400 rpm, delivering smooth and responsive power across driving conditions. The eight-speed automatic transmission provides seamless shifts and enhanced fuel efficiency, while the six-speed manual offers greater control for drivers who prefer a hands-on experience. Power is sent to the rear wheels, maintaining the truck’s strong load-carrying performance and towing ability.
The chassis features a double wishbone front suspension and leaf spring rear setup, tuned to provide stability and durability on varied terrains. With a ground clearance of 215 mm, a wheelbase of 3,155 mm, and a payload capacity of up to 1,055 kg (1.053 kg in the MT), the TRQ L is built for demanding tasks without compromising comfort. The braking system employs disc brakes on all four wheels, ensuring confident stopping power even under heavy loads.
Technology Features
Inside, the MG TRQ L is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring seamless smartphone integration. Bluetooth and USB connectivity come standard across both variants, while the automatic model adds a leather interior and climate control for a more premium experience. The system is complemented by practical features like speed-sensing and customizable door locks, power windows, and a multifunctional center armrest with storage for added convenience. The driver’s seat offers 6-way power adjustment in the automatic variant and manual adjustment in the manual trim, both designed to optimize comfort during long drives.

The MG TRQ L presents a bold exterior characterized by its halogen projector headlights, LED park lights, and high-mounted brake lamp for enhanced visibility. The 2.0 Comfort AT model adds premium details such as a sports roll bar, roof rails, and side step boards, while the manual variant keeps a simpler, utilitarian design. Both versions feature power-adjustable door mirrors, gloss black grille and door handles, and black rear bumpers for a striking yet functional appearance.
The pickup rides on 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels wrapped in 245/70R16 all-terrain tires, supported by a durable painted bedliner that ensures protection against heavy-duty use.
Interior
Inside, the MG TRQ L blends toughness with refinement. The automatic variant features leather upholstery and climate control, while the manual trim offers fabric seats and manual air-conditioning for those prioritizing durability. The driver enjoys six-way power seat adjustment in the AT variant or four-way manual adjustment for the MT variant, with thoughtful touches like map and dome lighting, interior rope hooks, and a day-and-night rearview mirror. The cabin’s intuitive design ensures ergonomic comfort, with easily accessible controls, large storage bins, and a layout that’s both practical and visually clean.
Safety
Safety in the MG TRQ L is comprehensive, ensuring driver and passenger confidence on every trip. Both variants come equipped with dual front airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) for improved vehicle control during emergency maneuvers. The eight-speed automatic model further enhances safety with advanced systems such as Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and Hill Descent Control (HDC) for added security on slopes and rough terrain.
Both trims include a reverse camera with guidelines and rear parking sensors, while ISOFIX child seat anchors ensure family safety.
