About GWM Philippines
The Great Wall of China – Historic, iconic, and undoubtedly one of the most well-loved tourist spots all over the world. No wonder, it has inspired Chinese automaker Great Wall to the point of literally naming itself exactly like the monumental structure. Formally known as the Great Wall Motors Company Limited, it was established in 1984, and started out as China’s largest private and commercial truck manufacturer, specializing in light to heavy-duty trucks, passenger pickups, vans, and SUVs. More than two decades’ worth of effort made them China’s biggest producer and importer of trucks and SUVs for private and public use. In 2010, Great Wall started to venture into automobile manufacturing, where it immediately saw its potential for success.
GWM stands out as a pioneering Chinese automobile enterprise that has successfully expanded its global presence. With remarkable speed, the company has established a network of over 400 dealerships across key regional markets including Russia, South Africa, Australia, the Middle East, South America, and Asia Pacific. In total, the GWM brand employs an impressive workforce of over 59,000 individuals, spanning across more than 60 countries and 400 cities.
Globalization opportunities soon knocked on its doors in 2006. Expanding its manufacturing and distribution, starting out in Europe where it manufactured small vans. Eventually, it created a presence in other markets like Vietnam, Ukraine, Senegal, Russia, Nigeria, Iran, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Egypt, Ecuador, Bulgaria, Thailand, and the Philippines where it debuted in 2009.
The GWM brand’s initial lineup consists of the Haval H6 and Jolion crossovers, and the Cannon pickup truck for the Philippine market.
