Foton is considered to be Asia’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer. It has a wide range of commercial vehicles, which include, but is not limited to, passenger vehicles, light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, agricultural and heavy machinery. It has manufacturing plants in different cities and provinces of China, as well as overseas.
It is because of these that the founders and incorporators of United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI), the official distributor of Foton vehicles in the Philippines, were convinced that Foton would be a brand that will be welcomed and embraced by the Philippine market.
Foton produces both consumer and commercial vehicles that cater to most needs. Most of the brand’s offerings are utilitarian in nature and feature space and carrying capacity. Models like the Foton Toplander, Thunder, Gratour, View, and Toano comprise the consumer lineup.
The brand’s naming scheme varies from product to product. Vehicles such as the Gratour and Toano will have variant names that specify the purpose or the seating capacity. The Toplander and the Thunder feature letters in their variant naming scheme. Low models in the Thunder lineup are denoted by an E, while high models don’t have a letter attached. The Toplander has EL as its base variant, and EX as its high-end model. The View has two variant families, the Transvan and the Traveller. The Transvan is more value-oriented, while the Traveller is for those who want more seating capacity, as seen in the XL 19-seater variant.
