dyson electric cars

The future of electric vehicles (EVs) is inevitable, with carmakers announcing their intention to either go full-electric or at least have a hybrid model in the near future. However, it looks like the EV trend catches the attention of non-carmakers as well.

Dyson Ltd.—a British technology company that manufactures revolutionary appliances like bagless vacuum cleaners and bladeless fans—have announced their intention to make their own electric vehicle by the year 2020.

In a press release written by James Dyson himself, the tech leader said that the idea of electric vehicles dates all the way back in 1988. The dirty exhaust from diesel mills jump-started the thought, which commenced their quest to find a solution to clean the by-product of internal combustion engines.

The idea was shut down due to the nonchalance of carmakers back then, but eventually, Dyson re-ignites the dream of cleaner air. Good things really find their way.

At this moment, we finally have the opportunity to bring all our technologies together into a single product. Rather than filtering emissions at the exhaust pipe, today we have the ability to solve it at the source. So I wanted you to hear it directly from me: Dyson has begun work on a battery electric vehicle, due to be launched by 2020.

As of date, there are no concrete details as to what type of EV will the appliance maker plan to create. All we know is that their team is now 400 strong — a combination of Dyson engineers and ‘talented individuals’ from the automotive industry. They also take their competition in the EV market seriously and they are looking forward to the growth of the project.

Besides, with a £2-billion investment (around P136-billion) backing the project up, it’s really possible that we’ll see an electric Dyson car in the near future.
