If you want to impress enthusiasts you know with your gift-giving choices or if you’re the motorhead in question, this shiny new Lego set will be a perfect buy. Coming this April is a Lego Technic set of the 2016 Ford GT, available as a 1:12 model and comprised of 1,466 individual pieces. This Lego iteration of the American supercar, also known by the number “42154” model set, measures over 3.5 inches tall, 15 inches long, and 7 inches wide.
It sports a model of the GT’s V6 motor with moving pistons and independent suspension at the front as well as the rear. The Lego Technic kit also has front-axle steering and an adjustable rear spoiler, where you can open the hood to reveal the Eco-Boost 3.5 Liter V6 twin-turbo motor. You can also open the iconic butterfly doors and assemble the rear-wheel drive with its differential.
Lego hasn’t given an official price for this model yet so you still have some time to save up. As for the Philippine market, however, don’t hold your breath as it will be quite some time to reach our shores after this model goes on sale in North America in April.
The real Ford GT will be given the racing treatment by the Blue Oval, they’re sending off the Ford GT with a track-only model GT Mk IV producing well over 800 horsepower for the lucrative price tag of $1.7 million USD.
Besides the Ford GT, Lego Technic will also be making models of the NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with 672 parts. If that doesn’t get you hyped, a Speed Champions set is planned for the Ferrari 812 Competizione, Pagani Utopia, and, Porsche 963 LMDh, along with a McLaren double pack consisting of the Solus GT and the all-time great, McLaren F1 LM.
