Subaru’s human endurance competition, the Palm Challenge, is returning to pick out the toughest and long-standing contenders, not only in the country, but in Asia. That’s right, you better get ready as one of Subaru’s major events dubbed as the Subaru Festival for 2018 is fast approaching.
First, the Palm Challenge. What started out in 2002 with 120 Singaporean participants has grown to being one of the Japanese brand’s major and serious competitions. Well, the game runs simple; whoever places his/her palm on the car the longest time wins. Simple to digest, yes, but participants really had to try their hardest to spend more than three days to win and drive home a Subaru prize car.
In last year’s Palm Challenge, Filipino IT Specialist Filmark Bernarte was able to finish third overall. He managed to reach a time of 73 hours 48 minutes, an impressive performance that was short by just less than an hour to the 58-year old Singaporean champion.
The endurance event also welcomes the public who’d want to catch the 2018 Palm Challenge: Philippine Face-Off, and meet the contenders who’ll represent the country in Singapore on October 26 to 31, 2018. Winners will be facing off against China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Singapore. And, if last year’s winner took home an XV, this year’s grand champion will take home a new Subaru Impreza.
Other than what’s been said, there are still more reasons to go to Subaru Festival. Event goers can be among the firsts to witness the 2.0 Levorg in metal. This is an additional variant to the existing 1.6 GT-S in the Philippine market.
Not only that, visitors are also in for a shot of Subaru’s Grand Roadshow, where old and new Subarus will be displayed.
The Subaru Festival 2018 is happening on September 22 and 23, 2018 at the 9th Avenue Bonifacio Highstreet, BGC. The battle of endurance will take place on the first day of the Subaru Festival 2018. If you wish to sign up for the Palm Challenge, you may do so by visiting this site.
