In an effort to reach more customers that are in the market for a brand new crossover, Motor Image Pilipinas (MIP) has lowered the prices of the Subaru XV – P100,000 less from their original list prices to be exact, for both the 2.0i and 2.0i-Premium versions. But there's a catch...
With the latest price adjustment, the Subaru XV 2.0i is now available at P1,198,000 (down from P1,298,000), while the top-end Subaru XV 2.0i-Preimum is listed at P1,378,000 (down from P1,478,000). This puts the XV closer to the price point of some sedans, which Subaru hopes will attract more would-be buyers as it offers the benefits of driving a crossover that's packed with Subaru's core technologies.
So, what's the catch? MIP states that the lowered prices are available “for cash purchases” only. That means you'll still have to pay the regular sticker price if you acquire it through financing.
The XV is arguably one of Subaru’s best selling models in the Philippines and has been a strong contender in its segment since its introduction, offering a quirky and more urban-focused alternative to the popular Subaru Forester.
What do you get with every Subaru XV? For starters, it's packed with a 2.0-liter gasoline boxer engine that offers a low-center of gravity and balanced weight distribution. Keeping things grounded is Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system, offering traction and safety regardless of weather and terrain conditions. A linear continuously variable transmission (CVT) provides smooth power and better fuel economy, resulting in an efficient driving experience. Meanwhile, high ground clearance allows for comfortable driving, avoiding all the dings and scrapes that off-road and urban commutes can bring. As a bonus, 60/40 split folding rear seats allow for versatility with a larger boot to store more cargo for those out of town trips and weekend excursions.
The 2.0i-Premium variant of the XV comes with an upgraded 6-speaker stereo system, sunroof, back-up sensors and camera, and an LCD screen that displays driving information such as fuel consumption and AWD status. HID headlights, dual-zone climate control, and electric-folding side mirrors also come with the premium variant.
In terms of safety, the Subaru XV is nothing short of excellent for this segment. With a 5-Star Euro NCAP rating, passive and active protection comes together in an extremely effective package. The Subaru XV is equipped with airbags for both the driver and front passenger, supplemented by side curtain airbags for total safety. The Subaru XVs energy-absorbing body structure is strengthened with high tensile-strength steel in critical areas. This increases flexibility and minimizes the impact force that can reach the cabin. Ring shaped reinforcement frames are found around the cabin, dissipating energy away from occupants in the event a collision occurs. The engine and gearbox are also designed to break away during impact to keep occupants and the cabin safe.
