We might be in luck seeing a 7-seater Ferrari soon, as the Italian automaker reportedly confirmed the possibility of producing a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).
According to Bloomberg News, this is part of Ferrari's plan on boosting the range of hybrid sports cars in the market, while maintaining its long-established image. The New York-based publisher also reported that the company is set to lay out its new 5-year plan in 2018, which is expected to run through in 2022.
It was back in 2016 when Ferrari CEO Sergio Marchionne released the statement, “you have to shoot me first,” after being asked about the company coming up with an SUV. Now, the Italian-Canadian executive has claimed that the production of a utility supercar will indeed happen, but with a twist: it's going to be in Ferrari's style.
Well, nothing's really a twist though; take the Ferrari FF into context. The "Ferrari Four" (or FF) is a 4-wheel drive sporting hatchback that doesn't aesthetically depart from other distinguishable models under the prancing horse emblem.
"That space is too big and too inviting and we have a lot of our customers who will be more than willing to drive a Ferrari-branded vehicle that has that king of utilitarian objective."
As it starts planning on its first SUV, rival brand Lamborghini has currently passed half on its way to delivering out the Urus. The high-powered SUV will likely to hit the market in 2018.
