Mitsubishi Xpander

The MPV is a popular choice among car buyers in the Philippines and it’s easy to figure out why. These cars have seven seats, a large boot, a frugal engine, and usually, an accessible price point. Since we’re in a country where space is king, people choose these as their daily drivers simply because they can comfortably fit more people compared to the traditional sedan.

In addition, it’s a culture among Filipinos to prioritize space in vehicles more than anything else. Even if you may only need the maximum amount of space your vehicle can carry several times in a year, we’ve been taught many times it is better to have a spacious car and not need it than not have it when you do. Just ask your grandparents, they’ll know what we’re on about.

Now, thanks to data we’ve collected from users, we’ve found out the top three MPVs people inquire for the most on AutoDeal. Let’s see if your favorite MPV is among them.

Mitsubishi Xpander

Starting off at number one, we’ve got the Xpander with 2.79 percent of total inquiries on AutoDeal. Despite being the oldest MPV on our top three list, it still sits at the top of the leaderboards. There are a lot of things to praise Mitsubishi’s MPV for but the feature that stands out the most is its exterior. Sure, the Xpander has a more modern face now owing to its recent facelift, but even the pre-facelift version of the Xpander can still hold its own today.

Mitsubishi has done well in providing the Xpander with an exterior that is aggressive and modern without letting it become too gaudy. Under the hood, the Xpander has a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that puts out 103 hp and 141 Nm of torque. It won’t win any races, but it can get you and six other people without costing you an exorbitant amount of cash at the pump. Transmission options include a five-speed manual transmission, and a four-speed automatic. It has space, seven seats, a frugal engine, and an exterior that is definitely pleasing to the eye. That’s why the Xpander remains a popular choice among Filipinos. At the time of writing, the Xpander starts at P1,068,000 and tops out at P1,198,000.

Toyota Avanza

The second most inquired-for MPV on our list is the Avanza with 2.13 percent of total inquiries on AutoDeal. Introduced in March 2022, the third-generation Avanza deviates from its predecessors with a more modern face and SUV-like proportions. The Avanza is Toyota’s most affordable MPV in the brand’s stable and on this list, along with the fact that it’s an all-new car, these factors may contribute to it achieving second place.

The Avanza starts at P833,000 for the 1.3 J MT model and tops out at P1,059,000 for the G CVT model with the 1.5-liter engine. The accessible price and amount of options make the Avanza a compelling option for buyers who need a seven-seater vehicle. It may not be the most kitted-out MPV here, but, the Avanza has all the equipment you will want out of a modern car without breaking the bank.

Honda BR-V

Sitting in third, we’ve got the BR-V with 1.99 percent of total inquiries on AutoDeal. The second-generation BR-V entered the Philippine market in 2022, dropping the curvy design of the old model and replacing it with a stockier and more upright build. The BR-V is equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated gasoline engine under the hood, generating 119 hp and 145 Nm of torque. It is paired with either a CVT or a six-speed manual transmission.

The second-generation BR-V garnered praise from buyers and automotive journalists alike because of its evolution from the previous BR-V. In addition to its handsome and restrained looks, the BR-V provides a compliant and easy driving experience. While the BR-V may lack the precision and grounded feel found in other vehicles within Honda's lineup, it's not designed for aggressive driving. Instead, its primary purpose is to provide comfortable transportation for you and your family, a role it fulfills admirably making it a preferred option among Filipino car buyers.
