Alagang Breastfriend (#AlagangBFF) is Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. Foundation Inc.’s (HFI) partners up with UP-PGH and the UP-PGH Cancer Institute’s flagship wellness campaign for women to take charge of their health.
The Alagang Breastfriend Mobile Diagnostic Clinic, the first of its kind in the country, is a customized Hyundai H350 luxury van equipped with state-of-the-art mammography and breast ultrasound facilities and manned by the UP-PGH medical missions to impart relevant information about breast cancer and offer free screening for early signs of breast cancer to women in underserved communities.
Hyundai shares the stories of three women, Aileen, Emma, and Gina, who shared their close encounters with the Big C, along with their transformation into fearless breast cancer warriors. They were among the close to 40 charity patients that were served by the first medical mission of the Alagang Breastfriend Mobile Diagnostic Clinic.
When these three women were asked about how the #AlagangBFF Mobile Diagnostic Clinic has affected their lives each one responded that it has helped them in one way or another.
For Aileen, she says that this mobile clinic will help women in barangays who can’t go to hospitals to have diagnostics done. She states that having a mammogram done can be expensive, so for Hyundai to give it for free is a big deal to those who might have breast cancer.
For Emma, she states that this free breast screening was a big thing for her. Thanks to this early screening by Hyundai Philippines, they were able to detect her breast cancer earlier. She believes that this mobile clinic will help a lot of people in barangays.
For Gina, she thanks PGH and the Alagang Breastfriend program for the free mammograms, as like the others. This shows that Hyundai’s efforts for fighting cancer have gone a long way. This mobile clinic has made an impact on so many people’s lives and continues to do so.
