Mazda’s CX-30 and its first electric vehicle the MX-30 have both been recognized in the Red Dot: Product Design 2020 awards. The award is highly sought after by global designers and recognizes excellence in innovation, functionality, and formal quality and ergonomics. This is the eighth and ninth time Mazda has won the award with its Kodo design models following the Mazda3 in 2019, the MX-5 RF in 2017, the MX-5 soft top, and the CX-30 and Mazda2 in 2015. The previous generation Mazda3 and Mazda6 also won these awards back in 2014 and 2013 respectively.
When we set out to make the Mazda CX-30 available in the Philippines last year, we knew it would set the new standard of beauty in the crossover market.
Tan continues by stating that “With the Red Dot: Product Design 2020 recognition, our customers can be sure that with the CX-30, they are getting the best of design and functionality in an excellent package that is globally recognized for its superior quality.”
According to the CEO of Red Dot Dr. Peter Zec, the Mazda products won over the jury through their aesthetics and functionality. With the Japanese brand’s designs, the award winners are setting new standards in their industry, says Zec.
The CX-30 is the second product model, next to the Mazda3 that has been created with the latest evolution of the Kodo design philosophy. It comes with an artful design, rooted in traditional Japanese aesthetics. It also follows the philosophy of ‘less is more’ and as such it has resulted in a cleaner look with beautiful surfaces. For those interested in getting the award-winning vehicle, the Philippine variant of the CX-30 currently comes in three variants with two different drivetrain layouts that provides varying levels of equipment and versatility to Filipino consumers.
The MX-30, on the other hand, is the Japanese brand’s first plug-in Electric Vehicle that is set to be made available in Europe in 2020. Similar to that of the CX-30 the EV comes with a more modern approach to the Kodo design. Giving it sleek and smooth styling while adapting to the design specifications needed for an electric vehicle.
