Nissan Philippines through its official website has released a couple of teaser images for a sedan that we initially saw undergoing testing on Philippine roads back in January. The sedan in question could be the 2022 Nissan Almera, the much-awaited new model that made its presence first known in the ASEAN region in Thailand.
A quick look at the website reveals that the automaker has prepared a series of teaser photos with one showing an interesting image of what appears to be an N Sport VL Turbo variant of the Almera. This could mean that a turbocharged version of the vehicle could be making its debut soon in the Philippines, along with a sporty-looking body kit to match.
With the turbo-badged model, this could indicate that at least one if not all of the variants will be sold with the forced induction motor. A quick look at the specs of the Thailand version of the new sedan reveals the turbo model should come with a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine under its hood. The motor should develop around 100 hp and about 152 Nm of torque with a 5-speed manual and a CVT being its available gearbox option. That said, these power figures and engine options could change slightly if and when the 2022 Nissan Almera launches in the Philippines. We could also still see the return of the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine or the 1.5-liter mill.
While its official specifications are still unknown we could expect to see similar features available in the Thailand model make its way into the Philippine variant. With this in mind, the 2022 Almera could prove to be one of the most tech-packed sedans in its class if it brings over its 360-degree camera, 7-inch LCD instrument cluster, its other host of safety features, and an 8-inch infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities.
