Aside from the Beetle (R.I.P.), perhaps the most alluring vehicle in Volkswagen’s lineup is the Arteon. This sleek fastback is the direct successor to the locally-available four-door coupe CC. While the CC is a beautiful car by itself, we figured the Arteon is much more appealing. Just look at it in profile.
Aside from its appeal, the Arteon is built on the brand’s MQB platform, which is utilized by the Volkswagen Group members like Audi, SEAT, and Skoda. One of which is the Audi TT that just had a solid refresh last month.
Another thing we like about the Arteon is its 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injection TSI engine. It’s capable of producing 268 hp and 350 Nm of torque, sending those power figures to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. It also features a standard DCC adaptive damping system that manages rebound and compression rates individually.
Unfortunately, the Arteon isn’t Philippine-bound soon – at least not yet. It’s confirmed to reach North America this year and to tease the westerners (and the rest of the world), Volkswagen collaborated with the award-winning photographer and filmmaker Douglas Sonders to capture the beauty of the German marque’s flagship vehicle.
Take a look at his gallery below:
Sonders is among the early adopters of all-digital photography has been shooting fashion, celebrity, and automotive scenes for editorial and advertising clients for nearly two decades. His company specializes in virtual and augmented reality applications, and an expert in producing images that blend the real world with the digital one.
With these images and with what the Arteon can offer, we can't help but wonder if and when will the fastback reach the Philippine shores. Hopefully, it will.
