Toyota and its official distributor in Hawaii, Servco Pacific Inc. (Servco), have joint hands in testing a new car-sharing application. The project is part of Toyota's Mobility Services Platform (MSPF) and will be the base of Servco's car-sharing business to be launched in Honolulu by the end of this year.
Basically, the car-sharing application will support authentication of the driver's identification, as well as payment and fleet management for a car-sharing business. Aside from those, it will also include a Smart Key Box (SKB), which allows users to remotely unlock their car using their smartphones.
“This successful launch of the MSPF represents the next generation in car-sharing platforms and is Toyota's global foundation for fleet management, car-sharing, and the future of mobility. Its powerful and flexible API based platform allows us to quickly adapt to new market opportunities and support deployment of locally-tailored mobility services."
Toyota has been working with Getaround car-sharing app since January 2017. The California-based car-sharing platform helps them verify the convenience of the SKB. The pilot test, on the other hand, allows the company to improve the service that the application offers, as well as its MSPF.
After developing the said application, the Japanese automaker plans to work with its other dealers and distributors. This would help them incorporate a safe and convenient customer-centric mobility service in their markets.
