9 years after it 1st hit the Philippine market and after selling 50,000 units later, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) recently unveiled the new and improved Avanza.
Aside from the obvious redesigned front, what else is new with this Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV)?
The new Avanza has 2 engine options available, both being the new generation Dual VVT-i 4-cylinder in-line 16 valve DOHC engine. The 1.3L powerplant is capable of producing up to 95 hp and 121 Nm of torque while the 1.5L engine can provide up to 103hp and 136 Nm of torque. A slight increase compared to the previous model. The new engine is paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission or to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The interior also had its improvement. The Avanza 1.5 G variant features a 6.2 inch LCD touchscreen display that is navigation ready and can play AM/FM/CD/MP3/Video. It can also connect to devices via Bluetooth or AUX-in. On the other hand, passengers of the 1.3 variants of the Avanza can still enjoy the ride with the 2DIN CD/MP3/AUX/USB player. Gauge clusters are given a clean and refreshing look lit with white LED lights unlike the previous model that used orange light.
This Avanza 1.5 G features a black and brown themed interior giving it a more classy feel while the 1.3 E and 1.3 J sport a black and gray themed interior. It can seat up to 7 people but if extra space for luggage is needed, the seats behind the front row seats split 50:50 and can be folded down.
It has more safety features such as driver and passenger airbags, ABS with electronic brake-force distribution, isofix, and the Toyota Vehicle Security System.
The new Avanza comes in 6 colors: Nebula Blue Metallic, Black Metallic, Grey Metallic, Silver Mica Metallic, Beige Metallic, and White. It's also available in 5 variants and has a starting SRP of P667,000.
