Celebrity drivers Phoemela Baranda and Rhian Ramos are set to join the Phoenix Pulse Formula V1 Virtual Cup 2020, which is the country’s first homegrown eSports program. Both of them are indeed looking forward to the thrill and the excitement during this much-anticipated event.

This virtual racing series will be utilizing the PC game Assetto Corsa. As mentioned, joining the Phoenix Pulse team are Phoemela Baranda, and Rhian Ramos, guided by one of its goals to promote Philippine motorsports in a virtual setting. With this move, Phoenix petroleum hopes that it could further encourage everyone to utilize virtual racing as a source of leisure.
Phoemela Baranda and Rhian Ramos are already well-experienced in the field of racing, in fact, both of these celebrities used to drive at the Toyota Vios Cup and Formula V1 Endurance Race. They will be among the drivers in a grid with 20 cars in Amateur Class. The two will also be joined with other multi-awarded young drivers in the PRO class, namely Russel Gabriel Cabrera and Joaquin Garrido.
Phoemela expressed her thoughts with regard to this new-normal platform, which is virtual racing. As expected, it does give her a different feel, although the overall experience is quite close to the actual setting. The only thing she misses is the sound, the smell of the burnt rubber, and the energy, despite that, she was able to recreate that feeling on this racing simulator.
Rhian, on the other hand, finds her experience very interesting, though it's worth noting that the celebrity racer has already experienced this kind of simulator beforehand. She further expressed how good this simulator is, as it helps ease her longing for an actual race, in a very controlled, safe way.
Many have been formulating smarter and alternative ways in order to provide people with safer leisure activities during this pandemic, and this racing simulator should maintain the motorsports spirit among several enthusiasts out there.
