The race to develop electric vehicles (EV) is the trend in the automotive industry. A testament to that is the partnership forged by Toyota, Mazda, and Denso, which focuses on jointly developing electric vehicles.
With that in mind, Suzuki is now reportedly expressing its intention to join Toyota and Mazda. Nikkei Asian Review said that Suzuki intends to team up with its co-Japanese automakers in order to catch up with the EV development.
The teaming of Toyota, Mazda, and Denso resulted to establishing a new company, called EV C.A. Spirit Co., Ltd. It will consist of selected engineers from the 3 companies with the goal of developing a wide range of EVs.
Will Suzuki be able to join Toyota, Mazda, and Denso? We could say that Suzuki has a chance because they signed a business partnership with Toyota last October 2016. The said partnership is geared towards pushing further its respective R&D that will allow Toyota and Suzuki to keep up with the drastic pace of technological challenges.
Suzuki is a brand known for producing compact vehicles and the leading car manufacturer in India. However, when it comes to addressing the advanced and future technology, Suzuki previously said in a statement that they are “increasingly feeling a sense of uncertainty."
