Suzuki Swift crosses the 5 million unit sales mark globally

11 years since its introduction in November 2004, the Suzuki Swift has garnered multiple car of the year awards worldwide. This time, it hit another global milestone – 5 million units sold and counting.

The Suzuki Swift is produced in Japan, Hungary, India, China, Pakistan, and Thailand. It has been a favorite among car shoppers and enthusiasts for its practicality, overall design, and performance. It hit its 1 million of units sold in 2008, 2 million in 2011, 3 million in 2013, 4 million in 2014, and now, the 5-million mark. These numbers show how the interest in this subcompact hatchback increased over time which is a concrete proof of its appeal to the buyers.

Locally, Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPH) launched the Swift back in 2011. Since then, it has become a choice among first time car buyers and young drivers due to its affordability and style. Thus, it’s among the top sales drivers of SPH for several years, which includes a significant contribution to their sales figures in Q1 2016.

The appeal of the Suzuki Swift lies on its overall design. It’s both compact and sporty, which is a great car for the ubranite with an active lifestyle. Last year, it has been upgraded with chrome embellishments on its fog lamps, a sharper bumper design, a new front grille, a few tweaks on the seat designs, and a new touchscreen multimedia head unit. This further enhanced its allure to the local market.

Locally, the Suzuki Swift is available in 1.2L and 1.4L variants, both with an option between manual and automatic transmissions. Its price tag ranges from P638,000 to P789,000. There’s also a sedan version in Suzuki Swift Dzire, which is available from P568,000 to P718,000.

Shuzo Hoshikura, SPH General Manager for Automobile, shared their delight in this global milestone. He said that they were expecting it to do well in the market when they first brought the Swift here, and are thankful for the continued positive reception in the local market.
