Singapore' first hypercar revealed ahead of Geneva

Prior to its global debut at Geneva Motor Show on March 7, Vanda Electrics' Dendrobium hypercar concept made its first appearance online – and it looks out of this world but we dig it.

In a video posted by Vanda Electrics, key details of the futuristic hypercar were showcased. From its F1-looking front fascia to its floating thin inverted-V headlights, and all the way to its spaceship-looking rear, the Dendrobium concept truly seemed like it’s from somewhere but earth.

With fitting specifications and futuristic impressions, it seems like China’s NIO EP9 Electric supercar has found a tough match.

The high-performance Dendrobium is a product of Vanda Electrics' partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering – Williams Group’s engineering service division. They specialize in race-bred aerodynamics, composites, batteries, and electric drivetriains.

If you’re a fan of Formula 1 (F1) racing, you might be familiar with the Williams Group as they are the company that brings you Williams Martini Racing. That explains the F1 aesthetics of the Singaporean supercar.

The Dendrobium is inspired by nature and rooted in technology, a marriage of design and engineering – I can’t wait to reveal the car to the world in March,” said Vanda Electrics CEO Larissa Tan.

Basically, the car doors and roof open up in a synchronized and theatrical way, imitating a fully-bloomed dendrobium flower – a native orchid genus in Singapore. While this justifies its flower reference, the video reveals a sharp and futuristic Formula race car – or pretty much like an F1 Batmobile in various angles.

Although it wasn’t shown in the video, the cabin sports Scottish leather from the Bridge of Weir Leather Company. This gives another step to luxury as the said leather company sources top-quality hides and has adopted the latest technology.

Enough chitchat, we know you’re itching to see it in action. You can watch the video below:
