PGA Cars Inc., the exclusive local importer and distributor of Audi cars, launched the 2nd generation of their fastest production vehicle – the all-new R8 V10 Plus. It looks more aggressive and powerful than its predecessor, while shedding weight for better performance.
Speaking of performance, the all-new R8 now comes with a 5.2L, 40-valve, V10 engine that has a maximum output of 610 hp and 560 Nm of torque. These numbers are greater than before, enabling it to reach 100 km/h from complete standstill in just 3.2 seconds.
The all-new R8 also has a maximum speed of 330 km/h – a delightful amount for future owners who have the thirst for speed. The high-output power plant is then coupled to a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission that brings the power to all four wheels, quattro style.
These performance numbers mentioned were greatly matched by the all-new R8’s revamped aesthetic design. It retains its coupe form, with the beautiful mid-engine visible from the rear windows. However, the whole exterior styling of the all-new R8 V10 Plus can be described in two words: sharp and aggressive.
The rounded edges of the 1st generation R8 has been revamped to sharper ones, which gives it a strong, ready-for-the-track appeal. The sculpted hood has less curves than the outgoing model, complementing its full LED headlamps. To further complement that distinction, it’s now fitted with dual quadrilateral exhaust pipes and carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) fixed wing.
The cockpit of the all-new R8 supercar is driver-oriented; all the driving information can be easily seen on the multi-information display with 3D graphics. Moreover, the steering wheel has satellite controls that enables the driver to change the settings within the car without taking his eyes off the road. Lastly, the all-new R8 comes with a high-end media center with MMI Navigation Plus with MMI touch.
Aside from the restyled aesthetic features, one of the biggest changes in the all-new R8 is its overall weight. The outgoing model is already lightweight because of its Audi Space Frame (ASF) construction, however, the 2nd generation R8 is even lighter – made of 79% aluminum and 13% CFRP. This makes up to the 1,555 kg overall weight, which is 118 kg lighter than the 1st generation model.
