The Ford GT has been a historic nameplate for the Blue Oval badge, as the supercar renders success and recognition in the field of motorsports through achieving its first win on the 24-hour endurance. Given such rich history, the American automaker revealed a Heritage Edition model of the renowned GT, and it will only be produced in limited numbers.
While its twin-turbo V6 engine remains unchanged, there are still a number of notable design cues to mention. The historic event was actually showcased in a movie titled ‘Ford v Ferrari’, and this particular model is set to pay tribute to the GT40 which won the Daytona 24 Hours endurance race in 1966. Going through its aesthetics, this Heritage Edition gets the special livery along with a similar red, white, and black color layout.
While there is an optional set of carbon fiber wheels, its overall look is actually finished with a stunning set of gold colored wheels. The iconic number 98 is also highlighted, as it further emphasizes the historic value of the GT. Its overall sportiness is well-complemented by the carbon fiber hood, a design cue which is also reminiscent of the legendary GT40.
The cabin sports a somewhat modern infusion with classical appointments. The overall layout of the interior remains the same given that this is just a special edition of the current generation Ford GT. Although, you’ll notice some notable appointments which make the Heritage Edition quite distinctive. The cabin is indeed rich in red details, from the Alcantara upholstery to its paddle shifters, red just really goes well with the supercar’s black theme. Lastly, you’ll also notice the consistency of the iconic number 98 which extends until the inside of the vehicle.
Aside from the Heritage Edition, there’s also a GT Studio Collection that features various customizable colors. Just to note, this specific model will only be limited to 40 units.
As per the blue oval badge, deliveries will begin in early 2021 with Ford GT production ending in 2022. However, there’s still no official words from the brand with regards to the totality of Heritage Edition units.
