When the first-ever Ford Ranger Raptor came out, there were a lot of questions from the netizens about its worth to bear the Raptor nameplate.
Now, before we proceed, let me start by saying that the Ranger Raptor isn’t an accessorized Ranger. It’s built from the ground up. It isn’t just an extravaganza of accessories slapped on a pickup truck like the Toyota Hilux Conquest or the Chevrolet Colorado High Storm.
More than the word FORD spelled out on its grille, it’s specifically engineered to go fast on off-road and withstand harsh usage on dirt tracks. Think of it as the Honda Civic Type R – it isn’t just a Civic on steroids; it’s built for performance that’s far from what a normal Civic could do. Clear? Clear.
The Ranger Raptor’s P1,898,000 price tag also raised the eyebrows of some people. Some say it’s too much for a pickup truck. Let’s just put it this way: the Ranger Raptor has some goodies that might not look pricey to you, but they indeed are. The Fox suspension alone has a staggering six-digit-peso price tag. And you can’t really buy it separately to slap it on a normie Ranger. That’s not how it works; that’s not how any of this works. Plus, look at those 33-inch BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires. Do you think those are the cheap type?
Those could already give you your money's worth, not to mention its Terrain Management System, Baja mode, the strengthened chassis, underbody protection, and of course, the 2.0L biturbo engine.
If you’re still not convinced, Ford Philippines is inviting you to the Ford Island Conquest Year 2 to experience the Ranger Raptor yourself. Aside from the display of Ford vehicles, you have the chance to inspect the performance pickup truck more closely and analyze its parts, if you may. Ford representatives will also be there to answer all your questions.
Best part? You can get behind the wheel of the Ranger Raptor and try it out on a course prepared by Ford Philippines. There won't be mud and dirt, though, but Ford mentioned that there will be man-made obstacles to showcase its capabilities.
Aside from the Range Raptor, the refreshed EcoSport, the entire Ranger lineup, and the rest of Ford’s vehicle lineup will also be available for a test drive.
The Island Conquest Year 2 is happening on October 5 to 7, 2018, Friday to Sunday, at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds (Open Parking). It will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Exclusive deals and cash savings of up to P100,000 will also be up for grabs for on-site customers.
