With Formula 1 (F1) teams set to unveil their 2018 contenders soon, Mercedes-AMG gave us a teaser of their W09 race car by firing its engine up.
According to the reigning F1 Constructor’s Champion, it took their engineers a thousand man years (also known as a “long time”) to be able to build this year’s engine. Good thing it sounds glorious… Almost like the era of V10s or V8s where engines let out a really loud howl on every lap.
Will the new engine be able to power them to the title again? We’ll have to wait for a few more weeks to find out as the 2018 F1 season starts in Australia this March 25.
Watch the engine start up below. You might want to skip to 27 seconds though.
