It’s official, the Maxus D60 will be having its local debut this coming February 5, 2021, Friday. In just a few days, the brand will soon venture into the Philippine market as one of Maxus’ newest additions to its lineup following the G50 8-seater MPV.
Just recently, the official social media accounts of Maxus have been releasing some teaser materials of the D60 which showcases its main highlights and other notable features. In terms of dimensions, numbers are higher than expected, with figures surpassing the usual standard in its class. Respectively, the vehicle’s length stretches by about 4,720mm, which is actually as long as the first-generation Toyota Fortuner.
Apart from expecting a roomy cargo area, its extensive length allowed the D60 to accommodate extra third-row seats at the back. That means the selection of 7-seaters will soon be expanded, and Maxus is championing its D60 as a good value proposition compared to other rivals in its size class.
One of the teaser photos has shown that the Philippine-spec D60 will come with a number of essential features, including the touchscreen infotainment system, digital gauges, automatic climate control with touch capacitive buttons, and an electronic parking brake which, assumingly, comes with an auto-hold function.
While no engine details were disclosed by the brand just yet, it could possibly come with a 1.3-liter engine that puts out 161 hp and 230 Nm of torque, or a 1.5-liter turbo that makes 169 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Two of the motors were made available in other markets. We’re also not sure if the crossover will be offered with a 6-speed manual option or solely with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. An all-wheel-drive option might also be open to our market.
While this does excite us, we’re just going to have to wait for its February 5 launch. By that time, we’ve already gotten some confirmed details and specifications of the upcoming model. That said, stay tuned for more updates.
