Although the automotive industry is still generally male-oriented, the fact is, the number of female car buyers is growing world wide. In our case at AutoDeal.com.ph, around 1/3 of our monthly visitors are now women – women who have a different set of needs and wants from men.
I'm no expert in this field, but this obviously affects their decision-making process when shopping for a new vehicle. Factors such as horsepower and performance may not appeal as much to most women, as compared to cargo space, child-friendliness, and especially color. That's why a group of international female motoring journalists decided to put up their own awards-giving body to recognize particular models that best suit their taste.
This is the Women's World Car of the Year.
Here, a panel of 23 judges vote for the best cars in several categories according to criteria such as design, style, comfort, and drive quality. They even consider things such as vehicle's 'wow' factor and sex appeal, which are apparently important to female car buyers.
These are their top picks for 2014.
