As a car owner, we're all responsible for learning the importance of having a license plate before heading out on the road. This could spell the difference between having a pleasurable drive and the hassle of getting caught.
That’s why we’ve list down three points drivers need to keep in mind.
Conduction Stickers
According to the law, all unregistered cars will be allowed to travel through the use of conduction stickers. This should be displayed on the top right portion of the front windshield and will be valid for 7 days from the vehicle’s date of delivery.
But with delays in plate distribution, the government has requested owners to display the conduction sticker number where the regular license places should be for the time being. Please keep in mind that this is also covered by the number coding scheme.
The LTO is currently negotiating with the Bureau of Customs to turn over 600,000 new plates that have arrived in Manila’s port.
Commemorative Plates
Whatever group, agency, or national significance it represents, take note that all commemorative plates must first be approved by the DOTC Secretary. More importantly, it shall not cover the regular plate and can only be installed on the left or right side of your license plate.
Also make sure that it comes with the commemorative sticker which should be pasted on the front windshield’s upper right hand corner.
Failure to follow these rules will be deemed a violation and will be penalized accordingly.
Lost Plate
If your plate number gets lost or stolen, all you have to do is file for an affidavit of loss to the Land Transportation Office (LTO). Submit it along with these required documents: certified true copy of CR, certified true copy of latest payment of MVUC, duly accomplished and approved Motor Vehicle Inspection Report (MVIR), proof of payment (OR) for the cost of replacement plate, and PNP-HPG clearance.
Once approved, you can use an Improvised Plate but make sure to always bring a copy of your Authority to Operate while the LTO issues you a replacement.
With these simple bits of info, we hope you can have a hassle free drive. After all, no one likes to be pulled over by the authorities.
