Toyota has confirmed with a concept sketch that a high performance variant of the Yaris is in the works. The announcement comes after the Japanese brand launched its Yaris WRC car, which will compete in the World Rally Championship (WRC).
In a Twitter post by Toyota Europe, the concept sketch suggests that the Yaris could be fitted with front and rear diffusers, side skirts, spoiler, and huge, flush wheels. Moreover, it seems that the hot hatch will feature Toyota Gazoo’s – Toyota’s motorsports team – colors.
The Japanese brand also said that its participation in the WRC will provide necessary technical information, which will be beneficial in the development process of the Yaris hot hatch.
As of this writing, Toyota remains to be secretive in handing out details about the performance oriented Yaris but, they did say that this signals the company’s return to the hot hatch market. Moreover, it’s speculated that the new variant of the hot hatch will be called Yaris Gazoo.
