Back in 2019, Land Rover Philippines stated that it would be bringing in the all-new Defender into the country. Come July 2020 and All British Cars, the exclusive distributor of Jaguar-Land Rover vehicles in the country then had an event for the all-new SUV. While it only served to gather interest for the vehicle and not as its official launch, the whole pre-order list quickly filled up.

Fast forward to August 11, 2020, and Land Rover Philippines officially launches the 2021 Land Rover Defender in the country. The variant that is now available locally in the automotive market is the 5-door version of the vehicle. With that said it comes with 5 custom packages to choose from starting with the Urban, Country, Adventure, Explorer, and First Edition.
The Urban package gives the SUV a skid plate, metal accents on the pedals, a spare wheel cover, and a scuff plate. Moving on to the Country package and it gives the vehicle fender flares, mudflaps, cargo partitions, and even comes with a hose for rinsing off items. This package was clearly meant for those who will want to get down and dirty with their off-road SUV.
The Adventure pack, on the other hand, takes what the Country package has to offer and takes it a step further. It comes with a side-mounted cargo box, an air compressor, and a seat backpack. Moving on to the Explorer pack and it comes with more features that will let you carry more cargo. It comes with more roof storage options as well as black decals on the hood and a step ladder.
For those who want to take all of those packages to the next level can opt to get the First Edition. This gives the vehicle unique items such as 20-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, privacy glass, and adaptive LED headlights. It also comes with Terrain Response 2 system which is the brand’s four-wheel-drive system that automatically adapts to road conditions without the need to mess around with any presets.

Powering the all-new Land Rover Defender is a 3.0-liter 48V mild-hybrid inline-six motor that comes equipped with an electric supercharger along with a twin-scroll turbocharger. This gives the SUV 395hp and 550 Nm of torque. With that amount of power, the Defender can hit 0-100km/L in a time of about 6.1 seconds. It sends power to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
There is no word yet as to if Land Rover Philippines will be bringing in the 3-door version of the Defender into the country. However, the company reassures its customers that it will be bringing it in sometime in the near future.
