On June 22, 2021, among the other updates to the Ford lineup in the Philippines, the Blue Oval also included a smaller bit of news for prospective Ford Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 buyers. Available for the Wildtrak 2.0 Bi-Turbo 4x4 variant in the lineup, Ford marked the official availability of the new power roller shutter yesterday, a segment-first OEM accessory that offers greater security and functionality for cargo.
"At Ford, we remain committed to designing products and services that are attuned to customer's needs and lifestyles. With the power roller shutter, our customers can enjoy added protection, convenience and safety with a feature bearing the Ford quality DNA."

Most pickups in the market get bed bars or garnish pieces that give the model a better side profile and some functionality. The Ford Ranger is no stranger to bed accessories, like the FX4 and the soon-to-be-launched Ranger Raptor X, get a few notable accessories that extend the look and add a bit of flair into the mix. However, customers often get bed covers to not expose their precious cargo to the elements and any kleptomaniacal characters that could poke their noses into their business.
Ford Philippines claims that the power roller shutter features a "sleeker and cleaner profile than most aftermarket offerings." The OEM accessory can be activated from inside the cabin through a switch on the dashboard. The shutter gets points for integration, as some aftermarket options allow manual operation or a switch that might not integrate well with the rest of the cabin. Buyers should also note that the power roller shutter may also be operated via the keyfob of the Ranger Wildtrak.

Ford also thought of the safety of such an accessory. If you're not careful, you may get your hand or finger pinched by the shutter, however, Ford was able to design an anti-pinch feature to prevent injury or damage to a person or object if contact is made with the mechanism or the shutter.
This is the newest feature for what is definitely the best-selling pickup truck in the Ford lineup for the Philippines. The Ranger Wildtrak Bi-Turbo 4x4 still gets the same 2.0-liter diesel engine that pushes out 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque—currently, and still the most powerful midsize pickup in the country. On top of its multitude of features, Ford adds one more that will not only sweeten the deal but provide more practicality and functionality to the already-capable Ranger.
The Ford Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 with power roller shutter is available at an introductory price of just P1,728,000. All Ford dealerships in the country will carry the model along with the roller shutter, nationwide. Buyers can experience this added feature for no extra cost for the top-of-the-line Ranger.
