Honda’s iconic S2000 might be up for a comeback. There have been reports from Forbes circulating that Honda is seriously considering the launch of a next-generation S2000, with it featuring the same body proportions and a more powerful engine.
This news should definitely thrill several enthusiasts out there. Upon recalling, this sports car gained popularity from the hit movie 2 Fast 2 Furious, plus, it was also present on the Gran Turismo game with it becoming one of the must-have cars in the virtual platform.
Moreover, the S2000 was praised for its handling as delivered by the high-revving 2.0-liter engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Notably, the model even gained more attention when it went out of production last 2009. In fact, enthusiasts started inquiring about a second-generation model.
Now, the biggest twist here would have to be the powerplant. The upcoming S200 shall come with a tweaked version of the Civic Type R’s engine. Likewise, the 6-speed manual transmission will also be carried over to the new S2000 for that engaging driving experience.
Now, going back to the main issue. It was said by Forbes that the marketing gurus of the Japanese automaker are seriously considering the launch of the next-generation S200. Now, this plan is said to commence during the sports car’s 25th anniversary which is by 2024. Now that may seem like a long timeline to go through, however, we’re quite confident that the model will surely be worth the wait if this unconfirmed information is pushed through.
What a perfect way to pay tribute to the iconic Honda S2000. This is perhaps motivated by the love and constant passion of enthusiasts for the renowned sports car. While the unconfirmed information entails quite a long timeline, let’s hope for any further information and stay tuned for more updates.
