The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), the exclusive distributor of MG vehicles in the Philippines, has released its sales performance figures for the first half of 2020. The brand has seen steady growth over the past few months through the sale of its affordable British heritage vehicles such as the MG ZS, MG 5, and MG RX5 just to name a few.
In the first half of 2020, MG Philippines was able to sell a total of 1,801 vehicles which is an improvement from 2019 as the brand was only able to sell 1,784 units. For the H1 2020 sales figures, the MG ZS came out on top taking 56% of the total unit sales. This goes to show that the British heritage brand was able to ride the growing trend for crossovers and exceed its year-to-date sales compared to 2019 despite the quarantine and the limited mobility of the public.
As a response to the pandemic MG Philippines states that it is focused on doing its part to rekindle economic activity in the country by easing the transportation requirements of the public
We appreciate the strong reception and trust that the Philippine automotive market has shown to the MG brand. Our principals at SAIC Motor International (SMIL) and we at The Covenant Car Company, Inc. focused our efforts on a precise product portfolio and positioned our offers to be most beneficial to the local motoring market. We are glad the objectives were achieved, and are delighted to see more clients and their MG vehicles on the road
With the brand already encountering success in H1, MG Philippines looks to the second half of the year to strengthen its position in the local automotive market. The automaker plans to increase its number of dealerships in the country and will open an additional six dealerships in various locations nationwide before the end of 2020. This will bring the total number of MG dealerships in the Philippines up to 30.
