The Nissan GT-R has been around for more than 10 years now. Since its introduction in 2007, the R35 generation has carved out a legacy of horsepower and supercar-annihilation with its price to performance ratio. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the car was launched online.
While a bit old, the model remains a potent performer, though it is safe to assume that Nissan knows that Godzilla is due for a replacement or a redesign soon. The Japanese brand in partnership with Italdesign crafted a production model called the Nissan GT-R 50, a collaborative effort with only 50 custom models available for sale.
A collaborative project started in 2017 in the Geneva International Motor show between two companies, Italdesign proposed that it could do something special with the Nissan GT-R as it is an iconic car in the Japanese marque’s lineup. This is the first-ever collaboration between Italdesign and Nissan, which also marks the nameplate’s more than 50-year history since its introduction.
The exterior is completely hand-crafted from a base GT-R Nismo and sculpted into a completely different automobile. It features the same engine as the Nismo edition, with the two upgraded turbochargers, and it receives a tune that brings the power to 720 hp, which also ties into the story of the model. It features a 50% increase of power over the standard spec GT-R when it was launched.
It’s all sorts of gorgeous and only has a few slight changes compared to the concept that was unveiled back in 2018. As for the price, a single unit will cost you $1,100,000. It’s a steep price to pay, but in turn, you get a one-of-fifty in the world work of art that will surely become a collector’s item. According to several sources, units are set to be delivered by late 2020, and the rest will be sent to their owners by 2021.
