Peugeot revealed its sexy new compact sedan – the 508. It features smooth curves outside and a luxurious cabin thanks to the brand’s i-Cockpit interior layout.
Dressed in red, black, or white, this sedan features a sexy, curvy silhouette. Character lines seen on its lowered hood and side profile further enhance the 508’s contour giving it a classy appeal. Meanwhile, its long sloping c-pillar gives this midsize sedan a fastback look.
No, the 508 isn’t showered with chrome to exhume elegance. Instead, it just has the brand’s chequerboard grille to bling up its fascia, paired with the gazing headlights from Peugeot’s concept car – the Instinct.
Peugeot says that the 508 has gone on a diet, trimming 70 kg compared to its predecessor. It also looks slimmer at just 4,750mm long and 1,400mm tall — 80-mm and 6-mm less than the outgoing model, respectively. Moreover, the new 508 has a boot with 14L worth of additional space, which brings it to a total of 487L.
Entering its frameless doors, occupants of the new 508 will be drawn to Peugeot’s i-Cockpit cabin layout. It features an ergonomic compact steering wheel, a large 10-inch touchscreen head unit, and an even bigger 12.3-inch high-resolution heads-up display. The i-Cockpit Amplify is also available providing ambient music and light settings, as well as multi-point massage programs to let passengers relax.
In addition, the i-Cockpit lets its driver select between ECO, Sport, Comfort, or Normal driving modes, as well as the settings of its electronic suspension for a more personalized experience behind the wheel.
Under the hood, the Peugeot 508 provides excitement with its selection of new generation Euro 6. PureTech and Blue HDi engines. Unfortunately, performance figures weren’t disclosed by the French carmaker, however, it looks like it will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
As of this writing, Peugeot Philippines has yet to announce if they will bring the new 508 locally. But with the brand aggressively bringing in diesel variants in the country, we might be able to see a diesel version of this sexy sedan sooner or later.
