Volkswagen teases its upcoming compact crossover known as the Taos. The all-new vehicle will complement the brand’s existing lineup as it will be positioned just below the Volkswagen Tiguan. It is also set to offer customers great value, excellent fuel economy, and great packaging which includes a suite of driver-assistance features and an advanced infotainment system.
Just like its sibling, the Taos is somewhat categorized as a compact crossover, though this upcoming model is relatively smaller than the Tiguan. Notably, the addition of the new vehicle should add variety and capture a new prospective market for the brand.
There were a total of 3 teaser photos released, the most revealing yet detailed photo is the one which exposes the LED lighting setup which extends up to the grille of the vehicle. Likewise, this compact crossover is also expected to have that Volkswagen-fashioned look incorporated with a clean yet elegant layout. This should somewhat allow the vehicle to age gracefully over time.
The rest of the teaser images were composed of long distance shots of the vehicle, though both images were not as detailed as the one. Going beyond its exterior, the cabin, however, remains a mystery for now. Even its powertrain options were not disclosed just yet. Given the circumstances, we are indeed expecting more in-depth information with regards to the Taos as it makes its debut soon.
The Volkswagen Taos was designed for the North American market, as its name does resonate with American customers. To further contextualize, Taos actually refers to a place located in New Mexico, wherein the small city is known to offer a lot of great things.
It was important to choose a name that really embodied the nature of the car and the town of Taos, New Mexico was a perfect fit. It’s a small city that offers big things—from outdoor adventure to arts and design and great cuisine.
The Volkswagen Taos is set to make its debut on October 13, 2020. It will be originally made available for the North American market, however, exports to other markets outside of the US is still a possibility. For now, let’s hope that this model will also grace our country, as it should be a compelling addition to Volkswagen’s Philippine lineup.
