2017 Kia Rio unveiled ahead of Paris debut

The 2017 Kia Rio is set to be launched globally at this year’s Paris Motor Show by the end of this month. Following the teaser sketches last week, the South Korean marque now revealed more detailed images of the 4th generation hatchback.

Comparing it to the teasers, the all-new Kia Rio stands taller in these new images. However, the aggressive and sharper styling is intact, with the new tiger-nose grille crowning the fascia along with the bi-function projection headlamps that has the signature U-shaped LED light. Interestingly, the grille is missing the mesh, which is something new for Kia cars.

The fog lamps are positioned outwards too, giving it an illusion of a wider stance. As a matter of fact, the incoming model is bigger than its predecessor. Although shorter by 5 mm, the 2017 Kia Rio is 15 mm longer, 5 mm wider, and has a 10 mm longer wheelbase. These give the car a more balanced stance, with an upright C-pillar and long front overhang. 

The rear, on the other hand, looks more upright than the older model with its short overhang. The redesigned bumper and arrow-shaped taillights are a thing of beauty, and complements the strong fascia for a bold and aggressive demeanor.

The interior of the Rio is driver-oriented; with the dashboard angled towards the one behind the steering wheel. Moreover, the new infotainment system is a human-machine interface (HMI) touchscreen display that will handle the car’s audio, navigation, and other connectivity systems. This allows less buttons on the dashboard for that sleek, straightforward appeal.

Additionally, the all-new Rio will also come with the choice of cloth or leather upholstery, with black or grey as your color options. To complete that sporty exterior appeal, a ‘Red Pack’ will also be available and it will come with black artificial leather seats with red trims.

As for its engine, Kia hasn’t disclosed any details yet but we’ll keep an eye for the announcements as we’re nearing the launch towards the end of this month. After all, it seems like the Korean carmaker likes to flesh out the details weekly.

Production of the all-new Kia Rio is set to commence by the end of 2016 but for now, we have yet to hear from Kia Philippines as to when will they bring this new hot hatch into our shores.
