Foton Philippines revamps its Gratour minivan. Gone is the 1.2-liter engine and in comes a new Euro 4-compliant 1.5 liter 4-cylinder engine. With this new power plant, the Gratour now makes 114 hp and 150 Nm of torque. This puts in within the power territory of the Toyota Rush and Mitsubishi Xpander – two of the most popular family cars in the Philippines.
The updated power figures are sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. Foton PH states that these improvements help reduce road noise throughout the car, resulting in a better drive. A new electric power steering system is also added for easier maneuverability
Moving on to the exterior, the 2019 Gratour now has a refurbished front grille and a slight redesign to the front bumper. The Gratour rides on 14-inch alloy wheels and also gains a new set of redesigned taillights that now extend up to the flank of the rear window.
The 2,710mm wheelbase, however, is still the same but the seating gets a notable upgrade. The Gratour can now seat eight people compared to the seven in the previous rendition. The third-row seat is designed to be foldable maximizing space for cargo when needed.
The body of the Gratour still looks familiar. It still has a 5-door layout with two of them being sliding doors on either side of the minivan, letting passengers enter and exit the vehicle with ease.
Safety features of the new Gratour include anti-lock brakes as well as electronic brakeforce distribution. These make the Gratour a little more practical and safer at its price point. Not bad for a minivan with a starting price of P570,000. Budget-conscious buyers now have a new option if they need a cheap but value-packed family car.
