The Aston Martin DB11 is already showing how great of a car it is even before it arrives at dealerships late this year. The British-made coupe recently received the 2016 Production Car of the Year award from the prestigious Car Design Awards.
A jury of experts from 10 global automotive magazines found the DB11 the most beautiful amongst the candidates which included the likes of the Bugatti Chiron, Ferrari 488 GTB, Kia Sportage, and the Volvo S90/V90. According to the judges, they thought that the DB11 blends an elegant exterior with its powerful 5.2 L twin-turbocharged V12 engine.
"We are delighted that the new DB11 has been awarded this prestigious award so soon after its launch, this is testament to the brand values and design philosophy of Aston Martin. Every millimetre of DB11 has been re-imagined from the ground up, and every part of DB11 is designed to create the world’s most alluring DB to date,” said Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman.
The coupe, which was the first Aston Martin to be launched under the brand's 'Second Century' plan, took 3 years to develop. It features the patented Aeroblade design which increases the vehicle’s downforce.
As a review, the DB11 made its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. It is powered by a 5.2L twin-turbocharged V12 engine that is capable of producing 600 hp and 700 Nm of torque. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 322 km/h.
