Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has recently unveiled the all-new Honda Legend 3.5 Sport Hybrid SH-AWD. With a price tag of P4.380-million, this luxury sedan is now their flagship and most expensive model in the country.
The 5th generation Legend is armed with what Honda calls a “Smart, Exhilarating, Luxury” grand concept inside and out. What this means is that Honda equipped it with advanced features, great driving dynamics, and premium materials.
As it stands, it’s now Honda’s 2nd hybrid vehicle here in the Philippines (with the 1st being the CR-Z). The hybrid system consists of 3 electric motors and a 3.5L V6 i-VTEC gasoline engine with Earth Dreams Technology and Variable Cylinder Management (VCM).
All these work together to produce a combined max power output of 374 hp and 461 Nm of torque that’s comparable to a V8. More importantly, it gives the Legend the fuel efficiency of a 4-cylinder. The 2 motors on the rear axle also independently control the rear wheels and improve handling through torque vectoring.
Also new is the button-operated 7-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with an integrated high-performance electric motor. The push-button feature eliminates the use of a shift lever to cycle through different drive modes. The parking brake was also replaced with an electronic one with Auto-Brake Hold.
Aside from the drivetrain, Honda also boasted the Legend’s Advanced Driver-Assistive System called “Honda SENSING.” This feature is comprised of the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF), and Lane-Keep Assist System (L-KAS).
In the design department, the all-new Legend flaunts with an elegantly-sculpted body that’s low and wide, displaying an athletic stance accented by sharp and upswept body lines. Adding to the car’s exterior styling is a set of 19-inch noise-reducing alloy wheels and an array of jewel-eye LED exterior lights.
The attention to detail continues inside where a full leather interior greets the occupants. This is then complemented with soft-touch materials and wood trims. But what really caught our attention was the Legend’s 14-speaker entertainment system with amplifier made by premium brand Krell.
In full view on the dash is an 8-inch navigation screen paired with a 7-inch touch screen below. The touch function allows for easy operation of the car’s essential tech features like the air-conditioning and audio system.
At the time being, the all-new Honda Legend 3.5 Sport Hybrid SH-AWD can be viewed and test-driven exclusively at Honda’s dealerships in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) Taguig and Greenhills, San Juan.
