February 2015 was underscored with optimism for Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) as it maintained a strong performance in the local automotive industry. Based on CAMPI’s latest sales report, not only did TMP managed to roll out 8,870 units off its dealerships, but was also able to gain an industry market share of 42.9%.
This marks their best-ever February performance yet, with a 28% increase over last year’s record.
“Toyota experienced positive sales in just the start of the year due to the market’s positive outlook. This year, the industry is forecasted to remain favourable in terms of sales growth/ With that, we can expect that this trend will remain as the Philippines shows improvement in its economy and specifically the automotive industry,” said TMP President Mr. Michinobu Sugata.
That optimism is keenly felt with a string of high demands for its best-selling nameplates. Leading the pack is its most popular compact sedan, the Vios. A total of 2,012 Vios units were sold just this February, thus proving that it’s still the brand’s most sought-after model and the country’s best-selling car.
In addition, TMP’s other popular models like the Avanza, Fortuner, Hilux, Innova, Wigo, and the Corolla Altis also helped to boost the brand’s February 2015 performance up a notch.
Likewise, TMP’s luxury sister company Lexus concluded February 2015 on a high note. Hot on the line-up is its newly-launched luxury compact crossover, the NX and its most popular luxury sedan, the IS. It was indeed a moment to remember for Lexus as February’s performance marked the premium brand’s highest year-to-date (YTD) sales since 2009.
