Ford has a lot of models in its lineup, and it can get particularly confusing to choose the perfect machine for you. No matter what Ford you choose from the lineup, however, you wil be blessed with a very capable machine.
Still, everyone’s needs are different. You may not need the biggest and most capable truck out there, nor will you need a hulking SUV. Your significant other might even hold it against you if you buy a V8-powered two-door. So what do you buy? Which Ford is the best for you? We’ve got you covered.
Built for the city, and made to be an easy-driving runabout, the Ford EcoSport laughs in the face of tight alleyways and narrow parking spaces. The subcompact crossover is one of the best-equipped in its class, coming with a reverse camera that outputs to its infotainment display. Subsequently, you may also pair your smartphone with the unit, be it Apple or Android through CarPlay and Auto, respectively.
The Ecosport makes for a perfect first car. It’s easy to drive and comes with very compact dimensions for easy navigation and parking. On top of that, the model also comes with either a 1.5-liter gasoline engine or a 1.0-liter EcoBoost, the latter of which delivers more power and torque but keeps the gasoline consumption steady throughout the drive.
A good car comes with this Territory. Equipped with features and all, the model is one of the best values for money that you can get in the Ford lineup. Equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, it makes decent power and torque, coming in with 141 hp and 225 Nm. It’s not going to knock your socks off in terms of performance, but it gets the job done with a bit of excitement. More for the younger generation of car buyers, the Ford Territory makes for an excellent city runabout with room to spare in case a family is on the horizon.
Made in collaboration with Ford’s Chinese partner, the compact crossover is roomy and comfortable inside, plus it has one of the longest lists of features you will see. From a panoramic sunroof all the way to adaptive cruise control, the Territory’s got pretty much everything you need and more.
If bigger is better for you, then Ford’s Explorer is the crossover to get. Many feel that this model is more of an SUV, but it’s built on a unibody chassis which means that it will be very comfortable to take around. On top of that, you also have power in the palm of your hand, as it comes loaded with the 2.3-liter Ecoboost engine that produces 300hp and 420 Nm of torque that sends power to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Explorer comes with some of the best kits in the market, being the recipient of Ford’s famed cruise control system, as well as the standard suite of infotainment goodies and gobs of space just waiting to be filled. As such, this car is perfect for the more established family man or someone who is looking for a model that will serve multiple purposes on the road, hauling cargo, towing a trailer, or taking out-of-town trips.
Now we move onto the more popular Ford in the lineup, and that is the Everest. Praised for its interior quality and ride comfort, the model still impresses with its top-spec kit and its powerful 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo diesel engine that makes 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The same motor can be found in Ford’s performance pickup for that Philippines, but we will get to that later.
Ladder frame vehicles are some of the more sought-after models in the market. Not only are they robust and nearly indestructible, but they’re also powered by cost-efficient diesel. The Everest is perfect for families thanks to its 7-seat capacity, and it can also double as a city slicker or mall crawler. High-end variants will come with a 4x4 system that will get you out of a sticky situation in the mud, and if you’re more daring you can even take this SUV out trailing in the dirt. Still, it makes perfect sense for a family man with a little sense of adventure, and a huge emphasis on practicality.
Now, if you really want the biggest and best that Ford can give you in an SUV body, the full-size Expedition is the perfect pick for you. The model comes equipped with the brand’s 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost motor that pumps out a whopping 375 hp and 637 Nm of torque. This allows the herculean SUV to reach a hundred kilometers per hour in under 10 seconds. Really, before you know it, you could be overtaking smaller and lighter cars with just a tiny stab of the throttle.
It’s so capable, yet it still retains an air of luxury about it. It has seating for up to 8 individuals, and it’s one of the roomiest rides you can get out in the market. Of course, you’ll receive the Ford SYNC system as well, but that experience is augmented by the Bang and Olufsen sound system that’ll keep your head bobbing for hours on end. As such, this is a more premium option if you want the ultimate American SUV experience, and is great for well-established individuals who’ve been there and done that and know the enjoyment of either sitting in the back seat or driving a mammoth of an SUV on the road.
The most popular model in the lineup, the Ford Ranger has been in the market for so long and has garnered the attention and endorsement of many fans in the Philippines and around the world. If you thought that picking a Ford among a stellar lineup is a hassle, just wait until you decide on the Ranger.
You get a 13 variant spread in the Ranger lineup, but all you need to know is that the XLS and XLT are the workhorses, the FX4 models are more adventurous with a side of flair, and the Wildtrak models are road-oriented with an inkling for some adventure. Don’t get us started on the Ford Ranger Raptor. That’s the ultimate lifestyle pickup. As such, the Ranger is pretty much for anyone with something to haul. Every model is suited to a particular lifestyle and can be adapted in many different ways as well.
While the Ranger may be the best-selling model here, Ford USA begs to differ. In the open roads of America, you will be hard-pressed not to find a Ford F-150. It is currently the best-selling pickup truck in the world and Ford knows to equip it with its best equipment to keep people buying. If you’re an individual who loves pickup trucks but doesn’t love how compact many of the models here get, this is the pinnacle of the body style. Equipped to the gills with features and the same engine that powers the Expedition, it’s a beastly vehicle that can get up to speed quickly, haul heavy loads, and make mincemeat out of trails.
It was initially made available with a V6 Ecoboost gasoline engine, the 2022 version of the pickup truck now comes powered by a 3.0-liter V6 PowerStroke diesel engine that produces 249hp and 596 Nm of torque. It sends power to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. Unlike the gasoline version that was initially reintroduced into the country, the diesel-fed version of the pickup truck is exclusively four-wheel drive.
Another storied nameplate in the country and across the entire world, the Ford Mustang is the performance vehicle in the lineup that makes any drive exciting. You have a bunch of engine and body style options with this model, it comes with or without a hard roof, a peppy turbocharged engine, or a naturally-aspirated V8. Either way, power is sent to the rear wheels and the model makes for a great driver’s car.
Perfect for producing excitement and adrenaline with every stab of the throttle, the model makes a great weekend getaway car whether you’re a bachelor or an established individual. The Mustang is perfect as a date car with the missus or for your future wife. It wows with every curve and angle and makes your jaw drop as you put the pedal to the floor.
