Here’s one more good reason to head over to the 2015 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) this weekend. Aside from the much-awaited preview of the upcoming Trax compact crossover, Chevrolet will also be launching 5 new variants of their midsize SUV, the Trailblazer.
These are the Trailblazer 4x2 LTX MT, the Trailblazer 4x2 LTX AT, the Trailblazer 4x2 LT AT, the Trailblazer 4x4 LTZ AT, and the Special Edition Trailblazer 4x4 LTZ (SE) AT. This brings up Chevrolet’s SUV line to a total of 7.
Variant-specific exterior updates include new front and rear bumpers with LED fog lamps and daytime running lights for the 4x4 LTZ (SE) AT. Meanwhile, the 4x2 LT AT and the manual and automatic variants of the 4x2 LTX will come standard with a set of 18-inch alloy wheels and blacked-out B pillars that draw attention to the vehicles glasshouse frame.
Interior styling also gets a touch of sophistication via leather-clad seats and new infotainment systems. The 4x2 LTX AT comes equipped with Chevrolet’s new Android Infotainment system with Android and iOS mobile connectivity. Furthermore, it gets free 3GB per month of Globe Tattoo 4G internet for the first 12 months of usage, maximizing the use of the new infotainment system.
As for the 4x4 LTZ AT and the 4x4 LTZ (SE) AT, Chevrolet’s new MyLink infotainment system is now standard. This feature can mirror an Android or iOS device to allow hands-free use, as well as utilize iPhone apps like Siri and Tune-In.
The 4x2 LT AT and the 4x2 LTX MT and AT will come with a reversing camera with rear backup sensors, routed to a 4.3-in LCD screen with digital compass, while the 4x4 LTZ AT and 4x4 LTZ (SE) AT will be fitted with reversing cameras, as well. A first-in-class tire pressure monitoring system will be standard in the 4x2 LTX AT, 4x4 LTZ AT, and the 4x4 LTZ (SE) AT.
Under the hood is Chevy’s 2nd generation Duramax DOHC turbo diesel engine, and is available in 2 kinds: a 2.8L 200hp with 500nm torque, and a 2.5L 165hp with 380nm torque. Transmission choices include either a 6-speed MT or a retuned 6-speed AT.
