In a rather classy line-up of the German automaker Audi, one model begs to differ. It has 4 doors, yet, has the sloping roof characteristics of a coupe. You're looking at the new A7 Sportback bound for production, and it has gotten more high-tech than before.
The exterior is well-honed with a new design language from the German brand. The Singleframe grille sits lower, and unlike the one found on the A8 model, this one is wider. Darkness is illuminated by a pair of narrow headlamps with 12 adjacent lighting segments. Its long engine hood and wheelbase complements its short overhangs and coupe-trim roofline – which is why it's called Sportback.
One more thing that's worth mentioning about the A7 Sportback is the new design of the taillights. Instantly noticeable is a flat light strip that separates this model from its predecessors. This new design features programmed animations for respective commands like locking and unlocking.
Meanwhile, the A7 Sportback claims futuristic lounge theme on its interior. The cabin is composed of horizontal lines and a newly-designed instrument panel. The race car-character is amplified by the orientation of the center console, which is tilted toward the driver. This is topped with the 10.1-inch upper display, which is complemented with the MMI radio.
Here's the thing, the A7 Sportback is like a cake drizzled with more sweet technology. The car is 100% connected for added convenience and more safety. It is equipped with an expanded version of the Audi Connect, which includes traffic sign and hazard information Car-to-X services. Up to 400 parameters is fully customizable and 7 drivers can freely store their personal driving preference in individual user profiles.
However, the cherry on top would be the Audi AI system integrated in the car. Thanks to this, the car can be remotely maneuvered in and out the parking garage, as it features the Audi AI remote parking pilot and Audi AI remote garage pilot. Aside from this, the car has 39 driver assistance system that can be split up into 3 packages: Audi AI parking garage, City assist, and the Tour assist packages. All packages feature better control mechanism.
As for the technical side of things, the A7 Sportback comes standard with a new mild hybrid system (MHEV). The car comes in 2 V6 engines and is pledged to use 48-volt primary electrical system. It will initially launch with a 3.0L V6 TFSI gasoline engine mated to a 7-speed S Tronic transmission, which produces 335 hp and 500 Nm of torque. This launches the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, at a top speed of 250 km/h.
