Nissan has just unveiled the newest iteration of the GT-R NISMO, the company’s flagship variant for the legendary Nissan GT-R. The refresh represents the continuous evolution toward ultimate driving pleasure. The NISMO, along with a special edition version are both planned for a launch in Japan in October.
Both of the NISMO models are available with the NISMO-exclusive NISMO Stealth Gray, a hue inspired by two of Nissan’s track-built and record-setting race cars.
Another small detail that will come is the addition of the new Nissan logo on the GT-R NISMO. The new design will adorn the rear trunk lid and the wheel center caps.
On top of that, the special edition NISMO will feature an exclusive clear-coated carbon fiber hood that sheds 100 grams of weight from the GT-R. A set of 20-inch forged aluminum wheels from RAYS Engineering will also be included along with red accents that match with the rest of the body. Other performance features include the Brembo brake calipers with carbon-ceramic rotors that are the biggest in any Japanese performance vehicle, coming in at 410 mm in the front and 390 mm in the rear.
The engine is also refined further, utilizing high-precision, weight balanced parts which include piston rings, connecting rods, crankshaft, flywheel, crank pulley, and valve springs that also have tighter tolerances. These small details net better power delivery thanks to the turbo spooling up quicker, delivering boost faster as a result. This results in power figures of 592 hp from the VR38DETT, a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 with GT3 racecar-supplied turbochargers exclusive on the NISMO variant of the GT-R.
The GT-R NISMO has always been an ongoing pursuit of ultimate driving pleasure. We take a holistic approach, seeking precision performance through a meticulous balance of engine components and shaving weight, and incrementally evolving the GT-R’s appearance to deliver the ultimate balance of power, performance and excitement to our customers.
Prices have not yet been revealed, we’ll have to wait until October, however, enthusiasts that want the GT-R NISMO, but can’t afford it could possibly get their hands on a Tomica Happy Set which includes a die-cast model of Nissan’s best performance car to date.
In collaboration with McDonald’s Japan, the miniature Nissan GT-R NISMO will be available with the McDonald’s meal set starting April 16, 2021.
