Surprise! The Formula 1 (F1) team Haas shocked fans with the sudden reveal of its 2018 challenger. Announced via social media, the VF-18 is an evolution of its predecessor that features the Halo and subtle refinements on weight and aerodynamics.
According to team owner Gene Haas, the new F1 rules weren’t drastic enough that it allowed them to improve on last year’s car. Haas engineers worked hard to make the VF-18 as light as possible, improve its aerodynamic features, and modify the chassis to accommodate the Halo safety device.
The VF-18’s livery also changed; It gives homage to their first car, which features the team’s red and black colors and an overall gray body color.
Will the new VF-18 take them to new heights this season? With the same driver line-up this year and a slightly different car, the learning curb shouldn’t be much of a challenge. Hopefully, this could be enough to bring them closer to the front of the grid. But we’ll have to wait for the season opening Australian Grand Prix happening on March 26, 2018 to find out if that would be the case.
