Toyota Motor Philippines announces that it is now offering Vios One Make Race (OMR) cars for sale to the general public. Sale of these race cars started this month.
An OMR car will cost you P1,400,000 – a rather hefty price tag for a Vios but it does come with substantial upgrades. These OMR units are brand new and are built to the same quality as the race cars used in the Vios Racing Festival (VFR). These showroom race cars are available at all 70 dealerships of Toyota nationwide.
This new generation of the Vios racecar is a good entry point to the world of motorsports because of its signature Quality, Durability, and Reliability. Instead of simply being spectators, future owners are encouraged to enroll at the Toyota Racing School and participate in the upcoming legs of our Vios Racing Festival series.
TMP states that it is selling the race car to help promote local grassroots motorsports by making it a more inclusive racing sport for all fans. The OMR cars share the same frame with the regular Vios G variant. It comes with a 1.5-liter engine that is mated to a 5-speed manual. The engine itself is capable of 106 hp at 6,000 RPM and 140 Nm of torque at 4,200 RPM. Not impressive figures but what the car lacks in straight-line speed, it more than makes up for in terms of its cornering capabilities.
OMR cars aren't just regular Vios G variants. These race cars come with several racing modifications, such as a racing spec clutch cover and clutch disk. It also comes with a limited-slip differential which aids the vehicle when cornering. Along with the cornering modifications the vehicle comes with performance brake pads for that added stopping power. For that extra power and noise, the OMR car also comes with a muffler set along with an intake system upgrade. In order to corner, the car will need good suspension, which the OMR car receives.
For safety, the car comes with a roll cage to help protect the driver in the event that a crash occurs. It also comes with a seat bracket for the bucket seat, as well as a 6-point seatbelt to further protect the driver in case of a crash. Other safety features include hood lock pins to keep the hood down during a race and circuit breaker which helps keep the electricals in check when a crash happens. This also works in tandem with a fire extinguisher as an initial fire prevention method. The vehicle also features TRD aero kits as well as body decals and new alloy wheels and tires. For driver ergonomics, the vehicle features a different racing steering wheel, heel plate flooring for extra durability, and finally pedal pads to make downshifting and heel and toe easier for the driver.
Purchasing a Vios OMR unit will automatically grant the buyer a slot to race at the circuit race format of the VFR starting this November under the Promotional Class. Buyers who purchased their OMR cars after the end of 2019 are required to race for the 2020 season.
