Initially making its debut back in 2019, the Geely Coolray was the new kid on the block in a sea of already established Japanese and Korean brands. It soon found steady popularity with the local market, thanks to the great features it has along with an attractive price point. Not even the still-ongoing COVID-19 pandemic could stop the new crossover. While the automotive market is still recovering from the effects of limited mobility, Geely Philippines was able to bounce back from the crisis in June.
Based on the latest statistics from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and from the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors Inc. (AVID) the Geely Coolray has come out as the top-selling 5-seater subcompact crossover for the month of June. The crossover was able to sell 154 units for that month alone. While it may not seem like a lot on paper, given the current economic situation it is still an achievement.
Geely Philippines also did well as the newcomer brand now ranks 10th in the month of June with 184 units sold. This also indicates that the brand’s newest addition the Geely Azkarra also had a good showing for the money of June as it was able to sell 30 units. The automotive brand also hit its highest monthly sales record since January of 2020. For the first half of this year, Geely Philippines was able to sell a total of 549 units.
This is definitely a very positive development as every auto brand tries to bounce back during this post-ECQ period. We are very delighted by this outcome since it is mainly driven by one model, the Coolray and only one showroom located in North Edsa.
He further continues by stating that “We expect Geely sales to improve further as we open new dealership outlets and further complement our product line up this year.” With Geely Philippines still encountering success despite the economic slowdown it is truly one of the brands to watch out for in the country as it slowly begins to expand.
