The Land Transportation Office (LTO) central Visayas branch will soon have a new mall facility that will be utilizing a new single-window transaction system. The government agency hopes that the new system will eliminate long waiting times and will help ensure the safety of personnel and clients against the spread of the still ongoing pandemic.
LTO-7 Regional Director Victor Caindec has already stated that the renovations for the new office inside Robinsons Galleria Cebu City are already underway. With the implementation of the new single-window transact system, driver’s license applications and renewals will therefore be done in just one window. The new system also has provisions for those who want to renew their vehicle registration as well.
The current multi-window system requires the client to transfer from one window to another in order for them to perform different steps for one transaction. While the system does have its merits in terms of efficiency, it does increase the risk of infection.
One of the features of that office being built today is that this is the first time that we are looking at the flow and dynamics of the agency’s process. This is to eliminate the long waiting time and long transaction hours of LTO
The new single-window system was made possible by the LTO’s new Land Transportation Management System which seeks to modernize the government agency through a shift to an online system. The cost of the new office in Robinsons Galleria is said to have cost P8 million which came via donations.
With that said, if the new single-window system proves to work well and efficiently in Cebu, then it could be adopted in other LTO offices that are in need of a more streamlined system to both keep the clients happy and maintain the safety of its personnel.
