Engineers can come up with creative ways to test a car. With this, Nissan made a video showing how they test paint samples in their Technical Center in the U.S.
In this clip, Nissan put a 1:16 scale model of the 370Z, for illustration purposes, in a miniature car wash. The test is made to see the paint’s durability and quality after 10,000 bristles harshly slap the mini ‘Z’ at around 180 rpm. Moreover, engineers made use of dirt and water spray to replicate the conditions of a real car wash.
The test makes sure that when Nissan vehicles reach the dealerships, the exterior paint will stay in great shape long after it has been purchased and put through a real automatic car wash.
