Geely has been seriously raising the bar, with the Chinese automaker locally introducing some vehicles which capture the hearts of many Filipinos. Given such great success it garnered from the Coolray, the brand has then brought in the Azkarra which should cater to those who want that Geely DNA in a bigger package. Just recently, the brand unveiled its flagship midsize sedan at the 2020 Beijing Auto Show, and we think this one would definitely serve as a potential addition to the brand’s local lineup. It is known as the Geely Preface or Xing Rui, at least for the Chinese market.
This model was based on the Preface concept which first aired at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. The Xing Rui is classified as an Innovative Geely 4.0 era vehicle within Geely Auto. Therefore, it is based on advanced modular architectures that allow for leading levels of connectivity, intelligence, and quality.
Apart from the brand's signature Cosmos Grille, the Geely Xing Rui exhibits a wider body that's accentuated with large wheels. Overall, it's aesthetics gives out the impression of true level of confidence and road presence. Notably, it is considered to be one of the biggest and most spacious vehicles in its segment, granted by its official dimensions of 4785mm long, 1,869mm wide, and with a wheelbase reaching 2800mm.
Inside, this midsize boasts in terms of fine details. It may seem that the materials used were above for its class. Passengers will surely be delighted by its two-tone theme which is applied on the doors, dashboard, and leather seats. Moreover, it’s also rewarded with a sunroof and a Bose sound system.
It sits on the brand’s new CMA platform. As for its powerplant, the Geely Xing Rui is run by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, however, power figures were not disclosed just yet.
Geely has quite a contender here. After feeding its Filipino consumers with its crossover flavor, perhaps, it’s time to serve something new from the menu. This midsize sedan should help the brand cater more prospective customers than before. Right now, we’re having high hopes that Geely Philippines will consider bringing this in anytime soon, as it does perfectly fit one of those mysterious silhouettes found in its website.
