Kia, known for mainstream models like the Seltos, Stonic, and halo cars like the Stinger, has unveiled the EV6. The first battery electric vehicle (BEV) that uses the new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) from Kia.
The brand claims that the model features high performance coupled with environmentally-friendly driving. It also inhibits range anxiety concerns with its ultra-fast charging capabilities.

Design-wise, the EV6 features a front clip that is unlike any of the present models in the Philippine lineup. The roofline is sleek and swept-back, while the front features a streamlined and aerodynamic look which plays into the overall design of the vehicle. You also get large wheels that look to be about 19-inches in diameter, coupled with a two-tone finish that makes it stand out. We also see that it will have 5 doors, and assume that the interior will be modular and practical. Flush door handles are also present, which gives this EV a sleeker look. As for the rear, of the EV, it features an aggressively sloped roofline and taillights that are placed off to the side for an even more futuristic look. On top of everything, it also features Kia’s new logo.

The interior features Kia’s new interior aesthetic with clean lines and varied textures and colors to add even more futurism into the mix. The gauge cluster and the infotainment display hides behind one pane of glass, which creates a feeling of continuity for the driver. The steering wheel also features a somewhat odd 2-spoke design, but we’re seeing that this might be the new trend for manufacturers moving forward.

According to the brand, the EV6 is capable of accelerating at a jaw-dropping pace. As far as we know, there will be at least two variations of the EV with two different powertrains. The standard model is no slouch, as it can go from 0-100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds, while the top-of-the-line GT variant launches from 0-100 km/h in a staggering 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 260 km/h. The range is claimed to be 510 km and the ultra-fast charging allows the vehicle to recoup 80% charge from 10% in just 18 minutes.
The prototype is pictured, however, the production model could feature different specs or minor design changes when it’s launched in the global market come the latter half of 2021. The EV6 will be the first model to signal the South Korean automaker’s transition to EVs.
